Calendar is an art project conceived and run by KVART Association of Contemporary Art and the Croatian Organization of Visual Artists. The author of the picture for August, young sculptor Vojin Hraste, explains the concept behind this unusual installation, that combines a peeling billboard and a tent with four ‘lodgers’, pitched on its top: “Since Split became the Mediterranean metropolis of mayonnaise and kitsch, its inhabitants are being constantly pushed out of it; the Japanese are nagged to buy souvenirs made in China, and by ‘massaging’ tourists in dingy holes - between reused fryer oil and sugar cotton – the last euro has been squeezed from each concrete slab of the pavement of the Riva Promenade. With my August 2015 installation I propose an alternative to the Splićani who are still eager of summer vacation: Go inland! Cista Provo is not far from Split. There, vegetables are grown organically, the people and the walnut liqueur are genuine. And if you are creative enough in positioning your tent, you will see Hvar. After all, aren’t we in the year in which ‘tents’ are the most talked about subject?” https://slobodnadalmacija.hr/kultura/cista-provo-promice-umjetnost-u-malom-mjestu-hrastin-sator-za-bijeg-od-turizma-285020
